Where it came from
Vizier of the Menagerie was originally introduced in the Amonkhet set in 2017, designed to support green creature-based strategies by allowing players to look at the top card of their library and cast creature spells from it. The card utilizes a mana-smoothing mechanic that permits any color of mana to be spent on creature spells, reflecting the creature’s role as a caretaker of exotic beasts within the desert city-state of Naktamun.
The Foundations version, collector number 649, brings this classic utility piece into a more evergreen context, maintaining the original artistic vision and mechanical identity. The illustration, consistent with the card's history, depicts the Vizier amidst the vibrant, organized fauna of its home, emphasizing the theme of stewardship that defined its original reception as a powerful tool for deck consistency in various constructed formats.
