The Wall of Air card is a notable artifact from the 1994 Summer Magic expansion, colloquially known as 'Edgar' among enthusiasts. Produced by Wizards of the Coast as a corrected reprint series of the core set, the release was famously plagued by printing errors and a limited, accidental distribution, making the surviving cards some of the most sought-after rarities in the game's early history.
The artwork was provided by Richard Thomas, who served as the first Art Director for Magic: The Gathering. His contribution features a minimalist, ethereal aesthetic that captures the concept of a defensive air elemental. The design intentionally evokes the fluid, intangible nature of the creature, fitting perfectly into the defensive 'Wall' archetype that defined much of the early blue color identity.
