Where it came from
Will of the Jeskai was released as part of the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate expansion, which drew inspiration from the Dungeons & Dragons universe integrated into Magic: The Gathering. As a modal sorcery, it was designed to provide players with flexible tactical options that reflect the strategic philosophy of the Jeskai Way, a monastic order characterized by ingenuity and fluid combat maneuvers.
The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, a frequent contributor to the game known for his vibrant and ethereal artistic style. His work on this piece sought to capture the essence of the Jeskai's discipline and scholarly focus, resulting in a composition that balances the themes of magical prowess and meditative concentration. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the Commander community for its utility in card advantage and mana ramp strategies.
