Theodor Körner's Werke: Vollständigste Ausgabe mit mehreren bisher ungedruckten Gedichten und Briefen. Dramatische Werke ; 1

Theodor Körner was a prominent German poet and playwright whose life was cut short during the Napoleonic Wars, an event that transformed him into a nationalistic icon of the German liberation movement. This volume belongs to a collection of his complete works, intended to preserve his literary legacy and his heroic image as a soldier-poet. These editions often appeared in the mid-19th century, curated to solidify his status in the German literary canon following the wave of patriotism that swept through the German states after his death in 1813.

The design of such mid-19th-century German literary editions typically reflected a somber, respectful aesthetic, often utilizing traditional typography and sturdy binding to appeal to the bourgeois educated class. These sets were meticulously edited to include previously unpublished poems and correspondence, aiming to provide readers with a comprehensive view of Körner's creative output. They were received as essential components of a patriotic private library, reflecting the enduring influence of the Romantic era's fervor for national identity.
