Where it came from
The Crocodile card (OP07-040) from the ST15-20 Release Event is a character card featured within the One Piece Card Game. It was released to support the expansion of the game’s meta, specifically highlighting the diverse array of antagonists from the series. This card was distributed as part of organized play initiatives designed to encourage participation in local gaming communities, marking a period where the game’s art direction began to lean heavily into thematic character portraits that captured the imposing presence of high-profile villains.
The illustration maintains the signature aesthetic of the One Piece Card Game, prioritizing bold linework and dynamic composition to reflect Crocodile’s tactical and ruthless personality. As a character card in this set, it was designed to integrate into Blue-aligned decks, reflecting his role as a former Warlord of the Sea. The release was well-received by players for its balance of collectible foil treatment and functional utility, securing its place as a sought-after staple for both tournament competitors and fans of the Alabasta arc.
