Where it came from
The Crocodile card (OP14-079) was released as part of 'The Azure Sea's Seven' expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to focus on the Warlords of the Sea, highlighting the tactical influence and character traits of figures like Crocodile, whose design leans into his iconic appearance in the Alabasta arc. The card features artwork consistent with the game’s aesthetic, aiming to capture his calculating and defensive nature as a leader within the game’s mechanics.
The card was received by the player base as a significant addition to the meta-game, specifically for its ability to manipulate the flow of play. Designed to emphasize board control, the artwork and card structure reflect the collaborative effort of the development team to balance thematic accuracy with competitive viability. Its presence in the set represents a broader effort by the creators to categorize major villains into functional playstyles that resonate with the source material’s narrative stakes.
