Provenance

Where it came from

The Monkey D. Luffy P-001 card was released in 2022 as part of the Super Pre-Release set for the One Piece Card Game. It served as a promotional item distributed during early tournament and event sessions held ahead of the game's official retail launch, marking the beginning of the One Piece trading card franchise. Its issuance was designed to generate excitement among fans and establish the game's mechanics prior to the release of the inaugural expansion sets.

The card features iconic artwork of Luffy in his classic pose, reflecting the vibrant visual style of the Eiichiro Oda series. It was designed to function as a foundational leader card, helping players understand the core gameplay loop of the One Piece Card Game. Due to its limited availability at pre-release events and its status as the very first card in the organized play program, it has become a significant piece for collectors documenting the history of the game.
