Where it came from
The Shanks (OP01-120) card originated in the Romance Dawn set of the One Piece Card Game, which launched in 2022 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga series. This specific card serves as the set's flagship Secret Rare, capturing the moment Shanks stops the Marineford War. The design features a dramatic, cinematic illustration that emphasizes the character's imposing aura and status as one of the Four Emperors, grounding the visual identity of the game’s initial release.
The alternate art version, highly coveted by collectors, features a distinct aesthetic departure from the standard card frames, utilizing a more expansive, immersive art style that highlights the high-stakes atmosphere of the scene. Upon its release, it was immediately identified as a foundational piece for the game's secondary market, praised by players for its rarity and by collectors for its role as the definitive 'chase card' of the debut expansion.
