Where it came from
The Shanks leader card from the OP-01 Romance Dawn set—often referred to within the context of The World's Strongest Warriors due to the character's status—was released in 2022 as part of the inaugural launch of the One Piece Card Game. Developed by Bandai, the set was designed to capture the expansive narrative of the long-running manga series, with this specific alternate art version being highly sought after for its distinct foil treatment and the high-tier artistic rendering of the character.
The design of this card features the Yonko Shanks in a striking, illustrative style that departs from standard game aesthetics to emphasize his authority and presence. Created to celebrate the character's legacy, the art was well-received by the player base and collectors alike, becoming a hallmark of the game's early secondary market due to its rarity and the cinematic quality of the illustration.
