Provenance

Where it came from

Released as part of the Paramount War expansion (OP02) for the One Piece Card Game in early 2023, this card depicts the legendary pirate Shiki the Golden Lion. The set draws inspiration from the Marineford arc of the One Piece franchise, focusing on the historical power struggles and high-stakes battles that defined the era. As a character card, it serves to flesh out the tactical depth of the game by representing figures who played pivotal roles in the series' lore.

The card features dynamic, character-focused artwork typical of the series' design language, emphasizing Shiki’s iconic silhouette and imposing stature. The visual direction aligns with the game's aesthetic goal of balancing iconic manga panels with functional, competitive gameplay mechanics. Upon release, it was well-received by players and collectors for its contribution to purple-themed decks, effectively expanding the roster of available character types within the competitive meta.
