Where it came from
The Tsuru card from the One Piece Card Game Celebration Pack was released as part of the promotional support for the OP-06 Wings of the Captain expansion. This card features an alternate art treatment of the character Tsuru, a prominent Vice Admiral of the Marines, designed to celebrate the game's competitive circuit and anniversary events. The artwork highlights the character's tactical, composed nature, utilizing the signature clean, vibrant aesthetic that characterizes the broader One Piece Trading Card Game art style.
The design of this specific promotional iteration focuses on enhancing the visual identity of the character for collectors, moving away from the standard layout of the main set cards. It emerged during a period of significant growth for the game, as Bandai Namco sought to reward active players and event attendees with exclusive, aesthetically distinct versions of existing characters. The card was well-received by the player base for its functional utility in blue-based control decks and its value as a limited-edition aesthetic variant.
