Where it came from
The Tsuru character card (OP02-106) was released as part of the TCG One Piece Promotion Cards, specifically featured in the 2023 Event Pack for finalists. Designed to reward high-performing players in competitive tournament settings, this specialized iteration serves as a stylistic variant of the base card found in the Paramount War expansion. It utilizes the established game mechanics of the character, whose ability centers on reducing the power of opposing units, making it a functional staple for competitive blue decks.
The visual design of this version leans into the prestigious nature of tournament rewards, featuring foil stamping or unique border treatments common to Bandai's 'Event Pack' releases. The illustration depicts Tsuru, the esteemed Vice Admiral of the Marines, maintaining the consistent visual language established by the One Piece Card Game's art team. Upon release, it was received primarily as a collector's trophy, valued by players for its scarcity and status as a commemorative marker for regional event success.
