Where it came from
The Tsuru character card from the Best Selection Vol. 1 Premium Card Collection was released as part of the promotional landscape for the One Piece Card Game, which debuted in 2022. This specific card, numbered OP02-106, features the Vice Admiral of the Marines, a veteran character known for her strategic intellect and the Wash-Wash Fruit. The card serves as a functional component of the game's mechanics, designed to provide tactical board control through its effect of reducing the power of opposing characters.
The design aesthetic follows the established visual language of the series, utilizing Eiichiro Oda’s original character art adapted for the trading card medium. Like many cards in the Best Selection series, this release was intended to provide players and collectors with high-quality reprints or alternate versions of key cards that had previously appeared in early expansion sets. Its reception has been largely defined by its utility in competitive play, where players value the card for its consistency and strategic weight within Marine-themed decks.
