Provenance

Where it came from

Released in July 2022 as part of the Romance Dawn expansion, the inaugural set of the One Piece Card Game, the Shanks card (OP01-120) represents the pinnacle of rarity within the collection. It was designed as a secret rare, intended to function as both a powerful strategic asset for players and a highly sought-after aesthetic centerpiece for collectors, featuring distinctive parallel art that deviates from the standard character designs found in the main set.

The card captures the enigmatic presence of Shanks, a pivotal figure in Eiichiro Oda’s long-running series. Its design emphasizes the character's status through premium foiling and exclusive imagery that references his role in the story’s narrative arc. Upon release, the card received significant attention for its striking visual appeal and the relative difficulty of pulling it from booster packs, quickly establishing itself as a foundational piece for hobbyists focusing on the early history of the One Piece trading card ecosystem.
