Where it came from
Magmar 20/124 was released in 2012 as part of the Dragons Exalted expansion, the seventh major set in the Black & White series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was notable for introducing the Dragon-type as a primary category, expanding the strategic landscape by shifting how various Fire and Lightning Pokémon interacted with the new energy requirements.
The card features artwork by illustrator Kouki Saitou, who has contributed hundreds of illustrations to the series. Saitou's approach typically emphasizes dynamic poses and vibrant, saturated colors, designed to capture the aggressive nature of the Fire-type while maintaining the clean, readable aesthetic characteristic of the Black & White era's common rarity cards.
