What it does
As long as your opponent has Kyogre, Kyogre ex, Groudon, or Groudon ex in play, Rayquaza ex's attacks do 40 damage to the Defending Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed.
Flip 2 coins. If both are tails, this attack does nothing. For each heads, discard an Energy attached to the Defending Pokémon.
When Pokémon-ex has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Where it came from
The Rayquaza ex card, released as number 39 in the Nintendo Black Star Promos set, emerged in 2005 as part of the promotional wave surrounding the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire generation. This specific card was distributed primarily through the Pokémon Organized Play program, intended to bolster interest in the competitive trading card game scene at local leagues and events. Its design features the iconic Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza in its powerful 'ex' form, which introduced higher hit points and more formidable attacks to the game mechanics of that era.
The artwork follows the stylized aesthetic established for the ex-series, characterized by bold illustrations that often break the frame of the central art box to emphasize the creature's scale and intensity. As a colorless-type card, it offered a strategic versatility that made it a popular choice for deck-builders during its peak tournament relevance. It remains a notable piece of mid-2000s Pokémon history, representing the shift toward the more aggressive, high-damage playstyles that defined the era of EX-series competitive play.
