Blumenwalzer A. D. Nußknacker-Suite / Walzer A. D. Ballett "Dornröschen"

This 7-inch release from the ETERNA label features two of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's most recognizable orchestral works: the 'Waltz of the Flowers' from The Nutcracker and the waltz from The Sleeping Beauty. Produced in East Germany, the record served as a standard entry in ETERNA's catalog, which sought to bring high-quality classical repertoire to a wide public audience through the state-run recording apparatus.

The performances are conducted by Horst Stein, a prominent German conductor known for his work with the Staatskapelle Berlin. The design follows the minimalist, utilitarian aesthetic common to ETERNA releases of the era, prioritizing clear identification of the composer and ensemble. The disc was intended as an accessible entry point to the ballet repertoire, reflecting a period where symphonic recordings were a staple of central European domestic cultural life.
