Chants Grégoriens

Le Kiosque d'Orphée was a unique French vanity press label founded in the 1970s that allowed amateur musicians, local choirs, and private ensembles to produce small-batch vinyl records. This specific pressing of Chants Grégoriens by the Groupe Choral Amateur is characteristic of the label's mission to archive and disseminate regional or niche musical performances that lacked commercial backing from major record companies. The production quality often reflected the modest resources of the groups involved, focusing on the preservation of traditional liturgical repertoires.

The design of releases from Le Kiosque d'Orphée was typically minimalist, often utilizing basic sleeves or stock templates provided by the label to keep costs manageable for the artists. These records were never intended for wide retail distribution and were primarily sold or distributed directly by the performing groups to their immediate congregations, families, or local enthusiasts. Consequently, the record serves as a modest historical artifact of late 20th-century amateur liturgical music in France, valued today primarily by collectors of private pressings and specialized choral archives.
