Laminados Andinos

Laminados Andinos (catalog number 01723) emerged in 1989 as part of a specialized series produced by the Colombian label Laminados Andinos S.A. This production context reflects the broader Latin American music industry of the late 1980s, which frequently saw the compilation of regional sounds and experimental audio works curated for niche markets and domestic distribution. The release was designed to capture a specific atmospheric or folkloric sensibility, utilizing the label’s distinct aesthetic for packaging and sound archiving that characterized their catalog during that era.

The design and production of this release were handled by a collective of local artists and technicians associated with the Laminados Andinos label, who aimed to preserve regional acoustic traditions while experimenting with contemporary recording techniques. Although the specific contributors are often credited to the label itself, the collection is widely regarded by contemporary ethnomusicologists as a vital document of 1980s Andean experimentalism. Upon its release, it was received primarily as a regional utility record, though it has since gained recognition among international collectors for its unique production quality and historical preservation of the period's soundscape.
