Laminated Denim

Released in October 2022, Laminated Denim serves as the twenty-second studio album by the Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. The record was conceived as an experimental project composed of two lengthy, ten-minute tracks, 'The Land Before Timeland' and 'Hypertension,' both of which were designed to flow seamlessly into one another. The album's creation was deeply intertwined with the recording sessions of their previous release, Timeland, serving as a creative counterpoint that leaned into the band's penchant for motorik rhythms and improvisational structure.

The album's distinct title is an anagram of 'Made in Timeland,' reflecting the band's conceptual approach to the release. The artwork and design were produced under the band's independent label, KGLW, maintaining their signature DIY ethos. Upon its release, the record was well-received by their dedicated fanbase for its hypnotic, rhythmic complexity and its ability to bridge the gap between their structured songwriting and their live, jam-oriented performances. It remains a notable entry in their prolific 2022 output, showcasing their continued exploration of krautrock influences.
