Laminated Denim

Laminated Denim was released in October 2022 as the twenty-second studio album by the Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. The album serves as a companion piece to the group's previous release, Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava, and is constructed from two long-form improvisational jams titled The Land Before Timeland and Hypertension. The record was conceived during the same productive sessions that generated their October output, reflecting the band's penchant for prolific, experimental, and often spontaneous recording cycles.

The album's title is an anagram of Made in Timeland, referring to the band's exclusive tour-only release from earlier that same year. Its design aesthetic aligns with the band's tradition of self-releasing music through their own label, KGLW, and distributing it without typical industry intermediaries. The cover art continues the group's signature eclectic visual language, which has become a hallmark of their expansive discography. Upon release, it was received as a continuation of their exploratory approach to progressive rock, favoring extended structural jams over standard song forms.
