Laminated Denim

Laminated Denim was released in October 2022 as the twenty-first studio album by the prolific Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. It arrived as part of a highly experimental period for the group, serving as a companion piece to their simultaneous release, Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava. The record consists of two sprawling, improvisational tracks, 'The Land Before Timeland' and 'Hypertension,' which were built upon the rhythmic foundation of the band's previous project, Timeland.

The album's title is an anagram of 'Made in Timeland,' reflecting the creative lineage of the project. The cover art, consistent with the band's aesthetic during this era, features bold, tactile-inspired imagery that leans into the themes of texture and mechanical rhythm. Produced by the band members themselves under their independent label, KGLW, the release was received by fans and critics as a masterful display of the group's signature blend of motorik krautrock influences and complex, jam-heavy arrangements.
