Laminated Denim

Laminated Denim was released in October 2022 as the twenty-second studio album by the Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. It arrived as part of a prolific year for the group, emerging shortly after the release of Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava. The record consists of two long-form tracks, 'The Land Before Timeland' and 'Hypertension,' both of which center around a persistent, driving rhythmic pulse designed to create a sense of continuous motion.

The album's title and aesthetic are a direct play on the band's penchant for spontaneous, genre-blurring experimentation. The music was recorded during the same sessions as their album Timeland, serving as a companion piece that focuses on improvisational interplay and rhythmic exploration. Reception among fans and critics highlighted the album's tighter, more focused approach to their jam-oriented sound, further cementing the band's reputation for maintaining an unconventional and highly active release schedule.
