Laminex Lovers

Released in 1983 on the independent Australian label Larrikin Records, Laminex Lovers serves as an artifact of the experimental and folk-influenced music scene emerging from the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. The record was produced by Peter Westheimer, a multifaceted artist known for his idiosyncratic approach to composition and his immersion in the local creative subcultures of the era, which often prioritized organic, eclectic instrumentation over mainstream production standards.

The album is noted for its low-fi aesthetic and thematic focus on the mundane realities of domestic Australian life, framed through a lens of gentle satire and folk storytelling. Westheimer’s design and musical direction reflected a DIY ethos common to the Larrikin catalog, aiming to capture a sense of place and personal history. While it remained a niche release upon its debut, the record has since been rediscovered by collectors of Australian independent music who value its archival quality and the artist's singular, unvarnished perspective.
