Nils Holgersson - Wunderbare Reise Des Kleinen Nils Holgersson Mit Den Wildgänsen - Folge 10

The 1982 Poly release of Nils Holgersson, Folge 10, is part of a beloved German-language radio drama series adapting Selma Lagerlöf’s 1906 literary classic, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils. This adaptation gained immense popularity following the success of the 1980 animated television series produced by Studio Pierrot, which introduced a new generation to the story of a young boy shrunk by an elf who travels across Sweden on the back of a goose. The audio dramas served as a key format for children's storytelling in West Germany during the 1980s, often produced as vinyl records and cassettes to complement the television broadcast.

The production style for these records leaned heavily into the nostalgic, educational tone of the original work while incorporating the recognizable atmosphere of the animated adaptation. These releases were managed by the label Poly, which focused on high-quality voice acting and orchestral scores to immerse young listeners in the narrative. While the specific illustrations on the sleeves often utilized stills from the television animation, the creative direction prioritized maintaining the literary integrity of Lagerlöf’s work, resulting in a series that is widely regarded by collectors today as a quintessential artifact of 1980s European children's media.
