Nils Holgersson - Wunderbare Reise Des Kleinen Nils Holgersson Mit Den Wildgänsen - Folge 4

This vinyl release from 1982 serves as a dramatized audio adaptation of Selma Lagerlöf's classic 1906 literary work, 'The Wonderful Adventures of Nils.' Originally commissioned as an educational geography reader for Swedish schools, the narrative follows a young boy transformed into a tomte who traverses the country on the back of a goose. The transition of this folk-inspired tale into the 1980s audio format coincided with the international popularity of the animated television series, which re-introduced Lagerlöf's characters to a new generation of European listeners through localized adaptations.

Released under the Poly label as part of a series covering the episodic journey, this recording reflects the German-language radio drama tradition prevalent in the late twentieth century. These records were designed to provide an immersive storytelling experience for children, utilizing voice actors and sound effects to render the expansive landscapes of the original novel. While these audio productions were highly regarded for their faithful narrative structure and pedagogical intent, they remain primarily valued today as artifacts of the nostalgic transmedia culture that surrounded the 1980s animated adaptation.
