Nils Holgersson - Wunderbare Reise Des Kleinen Nils Holgersson Mit Den Wildgänsen - Folge 6

This vinyl release is part of the iconic German audio adaptation of Selma Lagerlöf's 1906 literary classic, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils. Produced by the label Poly in 1982, this series was developed during a period of immense popularity for the character in West Germany, fueled largely by the broadcast of the 1980 Japanese-German-Austrian anime co-production. These records served as immersive audio companions to the animated series, allowing children to engage with the folklore-steeped narrative of a boy shrunk to miniature size who learns empathy while traveling across Sweden on the back of a goose.

The audio production reflects the high standard of German radio plays common in the 1970s and 1980s, featuring professional voice acting and atmospheric scoring designed to capture the whimsy and moral gravity of Lagerlöf's original Nobel Prize-winning text. As Folge 6 in the long-running series, the record was targeted at the young audience captivated by the television program. It remains a notable example of how cross-media branding during this era successfully introduced European children to foundational Nordic literature through the accessible medium of the Hörspiel, or audio drama.
