Symphonien Nr.8 D-Dur, Nr.9 C-dur, Nr.10 G-dur, Nr.11 D-dur

Released by Deutsche Grammophon in 1971, this recording is part of the expansive cycle of Mozart symphonies conducted by Karl Böhm and performed by the Berliner Philharmoniker. Recorded in the late 1960s, the project was intended to establish a definitive, authoritative reference for Mozart's orchestral works, characterized by a refined, traditional approach that prioritized clarity, balance, and a dignified tempo over the emerging historically informed performance practices of the time.

Karl Böhm, a conductor deeply associated with the Viennese and German traditions, brought a rigorous, disciplined style to these sessions. The Berliner Philharmoniker, already regarded as one of the world's preeminent orchestras under Herbert von Karajan, adapted their sound to Böhm’s exacting standards to produce a set that remains highly regarded for its sonic warmth and structural integrity. This specific release, cataloged as MG 2234, reflects the high-fidelity engineering standards of the Deutsche Grammophon 'Yellow Label' era, which set the standard for classical music recordings throughout the 20th century.
