Compulsory Evacuation Device

Compulsory Evacuation Device is a staple trap card in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, first introduced in the early 2000s and later featured in the 2015 High-Speed Riders booster set as card HSRD-EN058. Designed as a flexible piece of removal, its mechanic allows a player to return a monster on the field to its owner's hand, effectively disrupting strategies that rely on staying on the board. This specific common-rarity reprint in High-Speed Riders provided players with an accessible, utilitarian tool to manage the game state against increasingly powerful boss monsters.

The card's design features artwork depicting a mechanical or magical device forcibly ejecting a creature, reflecting its function of 'bouncing' cards back to the hand. Within the competitive community, the card is widely respected for its versatility, as it bypasses many forms of destruction protection that were prevalent during the era of the High-Speed Riders set. It remains a hallmark of efficient card design, balancing a simple cost with a high-impact effect that has allowed it to remain relevant across many years of shifting tournament formats.
