Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts

Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts debuted in the earliest days of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, initially appearing in the Metal Raiders expansion before being reprinted in the Retro Pack (RP01-EN043). The card draws heavily from the imagery of classical mythology and fantasy creature design, serving as a staple Earth-attribute beast monster for early competitive and casual play. It is perhaps best known for its thematic synergy with Berfomet, which allows for the fusion summon of Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast.

The design of the card reflects the aesthetic established by Kazuki Takahashi for the original Duel Monsters era, blending robust, earthy tones with a creature design that evokes a sense of ancient legend. As a common card in the Retro Pack, it provided players with accessible support for fusion-focused decks, allowing it to remain a recognizable and nostalgic piece of the game's history. Its inclusion in later re-release sets highlights its enduring role as a foundational monster in the series' mechanical evolution.
