Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts

Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Metal Raiders booster set, released internationally in 2002. As a Normal Monster with a beast-type classification, it was designed to serve as a key component for the fusion summon of Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast. The design reflects the series' early focus on mythological archetypes, providing players with a foundational monster that bridged the gap between basic play and the game's more complex fusion mechanics.

The visual identity of the card, featuring the iconic armored antelope, was created to align with the aesthetic established by Kazuki Takahashi for the original manga. As a Super Rare card within the Metal Raiders expansion, it became a recognizable staple of the early card pool. The design was well-received by players of the era for its utility in fusion-heavy deck strategies and its striking, detailed artwork that helped solidify the fantasy-oriented visual language of the franchise during its global launch.
