Giant Rat

Giant Rat was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game during the early 2000s in the Metal Raiders expansion. As an Earth-attribute monster, it became a staple of early competitive play due to its effect, which allows a player to special summon another Earth-attribute monster with 1500 or less attack points from their deck when the card is destroyed by battle. This utility made it a foundational card for deck thinning and maintaining board presence, cementing its legacy as one of the most recognizable common monsters of the game's formative years.

The version included in Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World, numbered LCYW-EN232, serves as a high-rarity reprint of this classic card. Released in 2012, this specific printing features the coveted Secret Rare foil treatment, which contrasts with its original humble status as a common card. The design remains faithful to the original illustration, showcasing the creature's utilitarian aesthetic that was characteristic of early monster designs, which favored straightforward, creature-based imagery over the more complex, stylized character art that would appear in later iterations of the game.
