Giant Rat

Giant Rat made its debut in the Metal Raiders expansion of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, designed by Konami as part of a cycle of EARTH-attribute monsters that could recruit other monsters from the deck upon destruction. The creature is based on the subterranean mole-like rodents frequently featured in fantasy bestiaries of the era, intended to provide utility and board presence for aggressive decks that relied on swarming the field.

The Speed Duel Tournament Pack 4 release, which includes this ultra-rare version, serves as a specialized reprint for the smaller-format Speed Duel game. These tournament packs are typically distributed as prizes for competitive play, meaning this specific iteration carries a prestige associated with organized play rather than traditional retail availability. The artwork remains consistent with the original Japanese aesthetic, favoring a classic, illustrative style common to the early years of the game's production.
