Nobleman of Crossout was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in early 2002 as part of the Pharaoh's Servant expansion. The card was designed as a strategic counter-measure to the increasingly prevalent 'flip effect' monsters that defined the early competitive landscape, providing players with a way to banish defensive monsters without triggering their often-disruptive effects. Its mechanical impact was so profound that it remained a staple in tournament-level deck lists for years.

The card was included in the 2004 Structure Deck: Zombie Madness, designated as SD2-EN016. While the original illustration style followed the dark, gothic aesthetic popularized by Kazuki Takahashi’s broader manga universe, the depiction of a cloaked figure dismantling a buried trap resonated with the game’s core themes of tactical dueling. Its inclusion in the Zombie Madness deck was intended to give players a reliable tool to bypass the defensive walls of their opponents while maintaining synergy with the graveyard-manipulation mechanics central to that specific deck archetype.
