Where it came from
Published in 1997 by Wienand, this volume serves as a comprehensive monograph dedicated to the work of the German artist Jürgen Partenheimer. Partenheimer is recognized for his contributions to contemporary abstract art, characterized by a practice that often integrates painting, drawing, and printmaking to explore philosophical themes of memory, perception, and the metaphysical nature of space.
The book was produced during a significant period in Partenheimer’s career as he gained increasing international recognition for his distinct, lyrical aesthetic. It catalogs his commitment to the 'metaphysical realism' that defines his body of work, offering a scholarly examination of the delicate, calligraphic structures he employs. The design of the publication reflects the austerity and precision inherent in his artistic output, aiming to provide a coherent visual record of his evolving spatial concepts for collectors and institutions alike.
