Reinhold Neibuhr on Politics

Reinhold Niebuhr on Politics was published in 1960 by Charles Scribner's Sons, emerging as a definitive anthology of the influential theologian and political philosopher's work. Compiled and edited by Harry R. Davis and Robert C. Good, the volume was conceived to distill Niebuhr's complex synthesis of Christian realism and democratic theory into a more accessible format for scholars and the informed public during the height of the Cold War.

The collection was curated to capture Niebuhr's pragmatic perspective on power, justice, and the inherent contradictions of human nature within the political sphere. Upon its release, the work was received as a significant intellectual contribution, reinforcing Niebuhr's status as a foundational thinker who bridged the gap between theological ethics and secular statecraft. It remains a central text for those examining the development of American political thought in the mid-twentieth century.
