System of Christian Doctrine, Volume 3

Originally published in the late 19th century as part of Isaak A. Dorner's System der christlichen Glaubenslehre, this work represents a cornerstone of German Protestant systematic theology. Dorner, a prominent figure in the mediation school of theology, intended the text to reconcile the traditional tenets of Christian doctrine with the intellectual challenges of the modern era. His rigorous approach, deeply rooted in the historical and developmental growth of dogma, sought to provide a comprehensive framework that could withstand contemporary philosophical scrutiny.

The 2016 edition by Wipf & Stock serves as a modern scholarly reissue, intended to make Dorner's complex theological arguments accessible to a new generation of academics and divinity students. The design reflects a standard academic aesthetic, prioritizing clear typography and a durable binding suitable for long-term reference in theological libraries. Because Dorner’s work is highly specialized, its modern reception remains concentrated within graduate-level theological circles, where it is valued for its historical significance and influence on subsequent systematic theologians.
