Tom Sawyer Abroad - Tom Sawyer Detective

Tom Sawyer Abroad and Tom Sawyer Detective were originally written by Mark Twain in the late 19th century as sequels to his iconic 1876 novel, though they are often noted for their more satirical and darker tonal shifts. While the original narratives were intended to capitalize on the immense popularity of the first book, they occupy a distinct space in Twain's bibliography, with Abroad serving as an adventure-satire and Detective utilizing elements of the burlesque mystery genre.

The 1968 edition published by Lancer Books, Inc. was part of a larger trend of mass-market paperback reissues during the mid-20th century aimed at making classic literature accessible to a new generation of readers. Lancer Books was known for its diverse catalogue, and this release reflected the era's focus on affordable, portable editions that brought canonical American literature into the domestic sphere of the late 1960s.
