Provenance

Where it came from

Released in November 2015, this self-titled collaborative album marked the first full-length studio project between French singer-songwriters Alain Souchon and Laurent Voulzy. The two artists have shared a deep musical kinship since the 1970s, having collaborated on numerous hits for Souchon, yet they had never committed to a complete joint album until this release under the Parlophone label.

The album reflects a polished, melodic folk-pop aesthetic that draws on the duo's long-standing rapport and shared sensibilities. It was met with significant anticipation by the French public, who long admired their historical songwriting partnership. Upon release, the record was well-received by critics and audiences alike, eventually achieving triple-platinum status in France for its warm production and the seamless blending of their distinct vocal styles.
