Where it came from
Gig-Na-Gig was released in 1997 by the group Global on the Seventh Wave Music label. The project emerged during the mid-nineties expansion of the electronic and dance music scene, reflecting a period when independent labels were actively seeking to blend traditional production techniques with the rising influence of digital synthesizers and atmospheric soundscapes.
The album serves as a document of the experimental electronic aesthetic prevalent in the late 1990s. While Global remained a niche act within the broader Seventh Wave roster, their work is recognized by genre enthusiasts for its structured layering and the specific production values that defined the label's output during that era, prioritizing a clinical yet expansive sonic environment.
