Where it came from
The 1000 Dram Annunciation coin was issued by the Central Bank of Armenia in 2010 as part of a commemorative series celebrating Christian themes and Armenian cultural heritage. Struck in silver, the coin serves as both legal tender and a collector's piece, reflecting the country's deep historical ties to early Christianity, which became the state religion of Armenia in the early 4th century.
The design features an artistic interpretation of the Annunciation, a significant iconographic subject in Armenian religious art. The aesthetic draws upon traditional ecclesiastical motifs, utilizing the refined relief work typical of modern Armenian numismatic production. These pieces were intended for both the local numismatic community and international collectors of religious-themed coinage, garnering recognition for their intricate craftsmanship and historical resonance.
