Where it came from
The 2018 5 Euro coin commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of Andorra, a landmark document ratified in 1993 that transformed the country from a feudal relic into a modern parliamentary democracy. Issued by the Government of Andorra, this commemorative piece serves as a cultural artifact reflecting the nation's transition toward sovereign integration within the European framework while maintaining its unique co-principality status.
Designed to highlight the democratic legacy of the Principality, the coin features the iconic seal of the General Council of Andorra alongside intricate motifs representing the nation's constitutional pillars. The artistic direction focuses on heraldic elegance and clean lines, intended to appeal to both numismatic collectors and citizens honoring the nation's contemporary history. It was well-received upon release for its high-quality minting and its role in marking a pivotal chapter in Andorran governance.
