Ex-Mutants: The Shattered Earth Chronicles #10

Ex-Mutants: The Shattered Earth Chronicles #10 was released in the early 1990s as part of a post-apocalyptic comic book series originally published by Eternity Comics and later picked up by Malibu Comics under their Adventure Comics imprint. The series emerged from a 1980s concept by David Lawrence and Ron Lim, focusing on a group of mutants who were genetically altered to serve as soldiers but instead sought to restore humanity to a ruined Earth. This issue sits within the mid-run of the title, which often leaned into the gritty, action-oriented aesthetic popular in the independent comic market during that period.

The creative direction for the series consistently emphasized high-stakes survival narratives and character-driven drama amidst a wasteland setting. While the title is best remembered for its distinctive premise and the early work of artists who would go on to have significant careers in the industry, the run itself occupies a niche space in the 90s speculative boom. It remains a representative example of the era's experimentation with dark, sci-fi world-building, appreciated today primarily by collectors of independent and small-press comic history.
