FemForce #4

FemForce #4 was published in 1985 by AC Comics, marking an early entry in the long-running superhero series created by Bill Black. The series was developed as a homage to the Golden Age of comics, specifically focusing on female-led teams. It emerged from Black’s desire to revive and expand upon the tropes of mid-century adventure stories, blending classic pulp aesthetics with a distinct stylistic focus on strong, empowered heroines in high-stakes environments.

The visual identity of FemForce was largely shaped by Bill Black himself, who served as the primary writer and artist for the early issues. The design philosophy prioritized bold, colorful, and traditional comic book layouts that mirrored the dynamism of the 1940s and 1950s. While AC Comics was a small independent publisher, the series garnered a dedicated cult following among collectors who appreciated its commitment to retro-style superhero storytelling, keeping the title in circulation for several decades.
