Lupo Alberto Collection #21

Lupo Alberto, created by Guido Silvestri under the pseudonym Silver, first appeared in 1974 as a comic strip featuring a blue wolf attempting to woo a hen named Marta. The Lupo Alberto Collection series was designed to anthologize these strips into a portable, digestible format for Italian newsstand readers. Issue #21 reflects the established mid-career style of Silver, where the focus shifted toward the domestic social dynamics of the farm animals living on the McKenzie farm.

The character design relies on a minimalist aesthetic that emphasizes expressive facial features and clear, clean lines. Silver aimed to capture the irony and surrealism of rural Italian life through a satirical lens, moving away from traditional children's humor toward more sophisticated, situational comedy. The collection series was generally well-received by fans for preserving the legacy of the original newspaper strips in a sequential, accessible narrative flow.
