Old Yokohama Radio Hour #3

Old Yokohama Radio Hour #3 emerged during the mid-twentieth century as part of a niche print series dedicated to chronicling the atmospheric, post-war broadcasts of the Yokohama harbor district. These issues were designed to serve as both a transcription and a cultural companion to the local radio dramas that captivated listeners with tales of maritime intrigue and urban folklore, capturing the specific aesthetic of a city transitioning rapidly into modernity.

The publication's design reflects the stark, utilitarian graphic style common to Japanese periodicals of the era, prioritizing readability and dense, evocative layout. While the identity of the primary editor remains anonymous, the series was largely curated by local radio enthusiasts and radio play writers who intended to preserve the ephemeral nature of the evening broadcasts. It was received as a localized cultural artifact, valued primarily by the tight-knit community of radio listeners who sought a permanent record of their favorite scripted programs.
