Where it came from
Released in 2011, LEGO Minifigures Series 4 was the fourth iteration of the company's blind-bagged collectible series. The collection was designed to provide fans with unique, high-detail characters that did not fit into existing licensed themes, allowing designers at the LEGO Group to experiment with unconventional accessories, printing techniques, and character concepts that pushed the boundaries of traditional minifigure aesthetics.
The series featured sixteen distinct characters, ranging from the Kimono Girl and the Surfer to more whimsical figures like the Monster and the Werewolf. These figures were developed to encourage trade and collection among both children and adult fans, introducing a dynamic of 'blind' purchasing that turned each acquisition into a moment of discovery. The series was met with widespread enthusiasm, cementing the blind-bag format as a permanent and highly successful pillar of the LEGO brand's strategy.
