The card embodies the industrial, artifice-heavy aesthetic of the Kaladesh plane, where Aether is harvested as a magical power source. Its mechanical intent is to act as a high-reward engine that incentivizes players to cast multiple spells in a single turn, culminating in the ability to expend fifty life to deal fifty damage to an opponent.

The version from The Brothers' War Retro Artifacts series features the same original art by Cliff Childs but is framed within a specialized, nostalgic border designed to mimic the aesthetics of early-era Magic: The Gathering cards. This reprint series was released to celebrate the history of the game's artifact-heavy expansions. Childs’ illustration captures the dense, brass-and-glass craftsmanship typical of Aether-tech, reinforcing the item's role as a potent and volatile repository of energy.
