Arc Lightning

Arc Lightning was included as part of the World Championship Decks 1999, a specialized product release by Wizards of the Coast. These decks were printed to commemorate the top players at the Magic: The Gathering World Championship, allowing the public to play with exact replicas of the decks used by the finalists. Each card in this set features a gold-bordered back and the player's signature on the face, distinguishing them from standard tournament-legal cards.

The card's design originated from the Urza's Destiny expansion, originally illustrated by Ron Spencer. His artwork for this spell captures the raw, kinetic energy of red mana, a staple of the game's aesthetic during the late 1990s. While the base card was a common utility spell for direct damage, its inclusion in the championship series cemented its reputation as a reliable piece of board-control machinery in competitive environments of that era.
