Provenance

Where it came from

The Boar token from the Double Masters 2022 set was released by Wizards of the Coast as part of a premium supplemental product designed to provide players with sought-after reprints and high-quality game accessories. Tokens in this set serve a functional role in Magic: The Gathering, acting as visual markers for creatures generated by various spells and abilities during play. This specific token corresponds to the effect of cards such as Nested Shambler, which produce creature tokens to populate the battlefield.

The artwork was commissioned to align with the distinct, refined aesthetic of the Double Masters series, emphasizing high-fidelity illustrations that stand out from standard-set tokens. The design leans into a fantasy-realism style, capturing the rugged, wild nature of a boar. As a component of a curated set, these tokens were designed for both practical use by competitive players and aesthetic appeal for collectors who value cohesive, thematic sets of game materials.
